"My work is an evolving mythology based on archetypal psychology and allegorical narrative. I am inspired by the tradition of mystics, poets, philosophers and psychologists who, throughout history, have sought regenerative transformation of the spirit and worked to describe the subtleties and ambiguities of their personal transformations.
My process is direct yet relies on intuition and discovery as each piece develops. I seek to make work that is compelling, whimsical, restrained in its gentleness yet contradictory in its subtle confrontations. The viewer is witness to the activities of various emissaries and their singular object-symbols in realms where unexpected and unpredictable transformations occur.
This artwork does not seek to deliver immediate answers, yet speaks to and prods the mind for what we may instinctively recognize as a story that resides in and just outside of our consciousness. In this way my work brings the small and large mysteries of inner existence, as they are, to life outside of the mind." Rachel Heinold
